Azrael creates pieces using all kinds of materials, including both digital ones, these pieces are quite embodying to what Azrael prioritizing. Though anatomy studies, dynamic poses, etc... are important to do, these things are equally as important to Azrael.Â

While yes, technically a self portait, Azrael did not believe this belonged in that section, since this work was much less emotionally powered, and was mostly based on the use of color. This piece was made with a collection of Arrtx paint markers, Ohuhu brush markers, Faber Castell Polychromos set. Together, these mediums work together to bring complexity to color. Many of Azrael's pieces, including this one, are highly experimental. This work was a test of saturation, many parts of this work are grey, or light yellow tones. This was done intentionally to emphasize the color, and to create contrast. To further contrast this, the background was made very colorful. Azrael's love for experimenting with color will be something that they come back often when drawing.

Working with preexisting themes is something Azrael likes do dabble in, however, they aren't very good at sucessfully achieving meaning in their work. While this piece could be seen as a critisism of human ignorance. (The person eating the apple is blinded, referencing the fact that oftentimes you don't see the bad you're doing, while it's simultaneously staring you in the eyes and waving it's arms, in a fluorescent suit with lights on it, screaming as loud as it can.) However, such an interpretation is difficult to see, and find. It is Azrael's goal to make these implication's in their work easy to find, and clear in their message. While this is something difficult, they do hope that they can achieve this. And eventually create works that can echo the screams of modern society. And translate them into understandable works.Â

This work is something that came about out of complete randomness. Simple circles drawn on a sheet of paper, that became recognisable shapes. And it became a creature that formed a clear shape in Azrael's mind. Using a black ballpoint pen to create lines that became thicker line by line. Using thicker lines to emphasize the important shapes. Eventually going on to use color to create this creature, probably living in undeep sea water. Hiding between rocky spots. It's easy to imagine this creature's habitat. All coming from the freedom to explore. The freedom to create bad, uninteresting things. While this piece turned out quite well, it was made to be fun. So many pieces turn out worse. But that doesn't make them any less important. The freedom to explore is incredibly important to Azrael.
